How does the scalp become sensitive?

The scalp is the region of the skin with the greatest complexity. No other skin area contains such a large number of hair follicles with attached sebaceous glands and of sweat glands. As a result of recurring oiliness and hair density, microorganisms can spread very easily. Some of them make a contribution to protecting the skin and form the acidic protection layer. However, with poor hygiene, the microbiological balance can shift and scalp itch, taut sensations, dandruff and redness may ensue.

The scalp's condition is determined by external and internal risk factors:

External risk factors include e.g.:
stress, environmental impacts, heat and dirt in the workplace.

Internal risk factors include e.g.:
a genetic predisposition, hormones, a weakened skin barrier, aging processes, concomitant symptoms of diseases or side effects of pharmaceuticals.

With increasing age, natural protective mechanisms and the scalp's regeneration will deteriorate. Especially the scalps of older persons will gradually become thinner and drier, therefore necessitating scalp hygiene based on individual needs.

The solution:

The Hyposensitive product line by Dr. Wolff Research was designed for people with a weakened skin barrier. Therefore, the surfactant base of the two shampoos uses particularly mild substances that do not additionally weaken the skin barrier during hair washing but support its regeneration and restore moisture reserves.

Apart from the particularly gentle surfactant formula, the products contain neither fragrances nor dyes or preservatives. While these substances are usually well tolerated, they may cause unnecessary stress to the skin in people with a weakened skin barrier and increased sensitivity.
